Our story

1991

After 1989, a new era began, the era of entrepreneurship. One of the first people in Romania who had the courage to embark on this new and unknown journey was Mr. Marinache Costel. Therefore, the company IZOCON Călărași was born, an ambitious project of a young Romanian entrepreneur.

1994

The vegetable farm was established by exploiting the first agricultural lands and by purchasing the first equipment. The agricultural lands were worked with Romanian equipment, such as the UM 650 tractor, the SUP seed drill, or the Romanian PP2 plow.

1999

The acquisition of an old zootechnical farm in the commune of Cuza Vodă, Călărași County, a location that required the renovation and modernization of the paddocks, the roof, and the improvement of the biosecurity conditions.

2001

The pig slaughterhouse was built near the zootechnical farm, in the commune of Cuza Vodă, Călărași County. The slaughterhouse was built "from the ground", financially funded by European funds SAPARD, being equipped with the latest equipment and machinery of the 2000s.

2003

The Feed Factory (FNC) of the zootechnical farm was established. In this location, the cereals harvested from the fields were used in the recipes of the fodder kitchen to provide fresh food needed by the animals on the livestock farm.

2005

Out of the desire to complete the food chain, our company expands and opens the first IZOCON butcher shop, where only pork products are sold, all obtained in our own slaughterhouse and farm.

2006

Our meat processing department has been put into operation. We have built a new building to expand the range of products in our butchers, the place where we produce products prepared with healthy spices, but also those products smoked with natural beech wood smoke.

2009

A second upgrade of the zootechnical farm takes place by building the maternity ward and improving the biosecurity conditions within our farm, reaching a number of 10,000 pigs each year.

2014

The upgrading of the vegetable farm by building 5-grain storage cells of approximately 5000 tons, along with the purchase of new equipment (tractors and combine harvesters) in order to increase the efficiency of our company's activity in the vegetal sector.

2016

In order to expand the vegetable farm, our company sets up a straw pellet factory. Thus, the straw resulting from the wheat harvest will be used as raw material to produce straw pellets needed for thermal heating on our farm.

2018

The brand name for our butchery chain is changing from IZOCON to Macelaria Ghita. A new concept of butchery through which we are closer to our customers by carrying out campaigns to educate the consumption of healthy meat offered on the Romanian market.

2019

The establishment of the first solar power park within our company. With an installed capacity of approximately 120 KWh, the energy obtained is used for consumption on our livestock farm.

2020

We continue our sustainability project and we set up the straw briquette factory in Cuza Vodă commune, Călărași County. Thus, at present, our company can produce 500 kg/h of straw pellets and 600 kg/h of straw briquettes for thermal heating used on our farm, but also for sale to the residents of nearby communes.

2022

We are opening the newest butchery in Călărași, in the historical area of the city, Piața Mare. This butchery is the last one of a chain of 20 butchers in southeast Romania.

Also in 2022, we upgraded for the third time the livestock farm, by building 4 grain storage cells of about 6000 tons. This storage center is specially designed to serve the fodder kitchen of the livestock farm.

2023

We continue the investments through new projects regarding the development of eco-sustainability, by expanding the solar park with another 200 Kwh installed within our company.
